PolyORB is a polymorphic infrastructure for building distributed systems PolyORB is a polymorphic, reusable infrastructure for building or prototyping new middleware adapted to specific application needs. It provides a set of components on top of which various instances can be elaborated. These instances (or personalities) are views on PolyORB facilities that are compliant to existing standards, either at the API level (application personality) or at the protocol level (protocol personality).

Binary packages can be installed with the high-level tool pkgin (which can be installed with pkg_add) or pkg_add(1) (installed by default). The NetBSD packages collection is also designed to permit easy installation from source.
The pkg_admin audit command locates any installed package which has been mentioned in security advisories as having vulnerabilities.
